Covid Unlocking

COVID UNLOCKING

It seems pretty certain that, despite the improving data on Covid transmissions, hospitalisations and deaths, the government is still focussed on dates not data and, on the basis that these are therefore not likely to change, the following are the key ‘re-opening’ dates we need to know. The government have consolidated this under a 3 STEP roadmap.

STEP 1
March 29th – All ages may return to outdoor training

STEP 2
April 12th – 17 year olds and under may return to indoor training as well as the opening of gyms and leisure centres’ swimming pools

STEP 3
May 17th – Adults may return to groupindoor training

As it currently stands, all training when it resumes must be socially distanced and, we are told, non-contact, free standing bag work is allowed, together with having cleaning protocols in place.

Barefoot training is allowed for all ages.

With regard to anyone teaching in schools it’s now okay for ‘after school’ activities to take place, but it will obviously be up to the individual school to make that decision and I assume any Instructor who does teach in schools will be in touch with them.

Fingers crossed that with improving figures these dates could improve but I won’t be holding my breath.

We’ll keep you up to date with any developments.

Peter
